  • It is launching three new Xbox console variants: the Xbox Series S in white, the Xbox Series X in white with a digital-only design, and a special 2TB Xbox Series X in a unique black โ€œGalaxyโ€ colour.

The recent Xbox Games Showcase hosted by Microsoft was a pivotal event that introduced new iterations of Xbox Series X and S consoles, along with previews of several upcoming games, notably the next โ€œCall of Dutyโ€.

In response to industry challenges such as declining sales and studio closures, Microsoft unveiled three consoles, including a disc-less version of the Series X and S, alongside a special edition Series X with 2 terabytes of storage at $599.99, and a 1TB Xbox Series S in white for $349.99, The new white Xbox Series X matches the โ€˜robot whiteโ€™ color of the Xbox Series S, which costs $299.

Of particular note is the introduction of the white Xbox Series X, aligning with the โ€˜robot whiteโ€™ color of the Series S. This move hints at a potential reshuffling or postponement of the rumored โ€˜Brooklinโ€™ refresh, an all-digital version of the Series X.

The Xbox hardware chief emphasised these developments in a blog post, aiming to potentially bolster console sales against competitors like Sonyโ€™s PlayStation 5.

The Games Showcase not only featured highly anticipated titles like โ€œDoom: The Dark Agesโ€ and the latest โ€œGears of Warโ€ installment but also emphasized the inclusion of games like โ€œDoomโ€ and โ€œCall of Dutyโ€ on the Xbox Game Pass upon launch.

The strategy underscores Microsoftโ€™s focus on subscription services as a means to engage consumers amidst economic uncertainty.

Additionally, the event showcased upcoming games like โ€œCall of Duty: Black Ops 6โ€ and new titles such as Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and Life is Strange: Double Exposure, offering a varied gaming experience for audiences.

With exclusive looks at Xbox-developed games like Perfect Dark and Avowed, as well as features like enhanced movement systems in โ€œBlack Ops 6โ€, the Showcase demonstrated Microsoftโ€™s commitment to delivering compelling gaming content to its audience.

Developers Treyarch and Raven software showed clips from the campaign of the game that takes place in the early 1990s, touting features such as a new movement system allowing players to sprint in all directions, and a glimpse at the fan-favorite โ€œZombiesโ€ mode.
