In a significant push toward strengthening India’s position as a global innovation hub, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), operating under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has entered into a series of strategic Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with prominent industry players and ecosystem enablers to supercharge startup ecosystem.
These partnerships are designed to deepen support for the country’s burgeoning startup community and accelerate innovation-led economic growth.
The newly forged collaborations span a diverse range of sectors and bring together Cashfree Payments, Darwin Dynamics, Vultr India, Cars24, and the Council for Startup India (CSI). Together, they cover critical domains including digital payments, fintech, deep-tech innovation, cloud infrastructure, mobility technology, artificial intelligence, investment facilitation, and global market access.
Under the MoU with Cashfree Payments India Pvt Ltd, startups recognised by DPIIT will receive access to a comprehensive suite of digital payment and payout solutions. Beyond transactional infrastructure, the partnership extends to identity verification, risk-management services, and preferential onboarding with commercial benefits tailored to early-stage ventures.
The collaboration goes well beyond technology provisioning. It envisions a robust calendar of founder workshops, mentoring sessions, AI buildathons, hackathons, and knowledge-sharing programmes.
These initiatives will focus on digital payments, regulatory compliance, fraud prevention, KYC norms, cross-border transaction mechanisms, and emerging technologies — equipping founders with both tools and know-how to navigate the fintech landscape.
Taking entrepreneurship beyond metro cities
DPIIT’s partnership with Darwin Dynamics LLP reflects a deliberate effort to democratise entrepreneurship across India’s geography. The initiative aims to expand entrepreneurial opportunities in Tier II, Tier III, and rural areas, while strengthening access to mentorship, institutional networks, markets, and capacity-building support.
Darwin Dynamics will spearhead startup outreach and formalisation drives, conduct entrepreneurship bootcamps, develop mentor networks, and run international market-access programmes. Investor-connect initiatives and policy research will complement these efforts.
A notable emphasis will be placed on strategic sectors such as clean energy, green hydrogen, artificial intelligence, climate technologies, and advanced manufacturing. The partnership is expected to particularly benefit youth, women entrepreneurs, first-generation founders, and innovators from underserved regions who have historically faced barriers to entry.
Building the cloud backbone for startups
Recognising that cloud infrastructure is now foundational to digital innovation, the MoU with Vultr India Pvt Ltd focuses squarely on improving access to cloud computing and digital infrastructure for DPIIT-recognised startups. Eligible startups will benefit from cloud credits, preferential pricing structures, and dedicated technical support through Vultr’s startup programmes.
The partnership also incorporates a strong capacity-building dimension, with training and technical assistance covering cloud computing fundamentals, storage solutions, databases, Kubernetes orchestration, networking, and application deployment. Vultr will explore active participation in Startup India and DPIIT-led events to promote wider adoption of cloud technologies across the startup ecosystem.
DPIIT has also joined hands with Cars24 Services Pvt Ltd to catalyse innovation and entrepreneurship within India’s mobility and automotive technology ecosystem — a sector poised for transformative growth.
The partnership will concentrate on AI-driven innovation, founder mentorship, mobility and autotech skilling, investment opportunities, road safety, and innovation challenges. Cars24 will facilitate technology enablement and hackathons, while also supporting promising startups through investment evaluation and broader ecosystem engagement, with a particular focus on mobility solutions and artificial intelligence applications.
Council for Startup India
The MoU with the Council for Startup India (CSI) addresses one of the most persistent challenges faced by Indian startups: access to investment, strategic partnerships, and global markets. CSI will conduct targeted programmes focused on investment readiness, corporate engagement, CFO matchmaking, global market access, and international innovation collaborations.
Beyond capital, the partnership will help startups strengthen their governance frameworks, financial preparedness, compliance standards, and international expansion strategies. It will also serve as a bridge connecting founders with investors, industry leaders, and policymakers, creating a more integrated support network.
